Woodview Announces Two Life Members
The Woodview Park Association annual volunteer appreciation and awards night is always
a great event. This year was no exception. The host Past President Mark Ashcroft had
numerous surprises in store for the assembled guests. An invite is extended to members
of our association who contribute to the operation of the park, its sports teams, its
clubs and its executive members.
This event honors all volunteers and when worthy people are recommended awards are
presented. This years recipient of the Ede Major award as Volunteer of the Year went
to Mr Ian Barkwell, long serving member, currently our Facilities manager and providing
excellent guidance to the OCCNA as a member of the Facilities Committee.
During the evening two members of our association were awarded Honarary Life Memberships for
service to Woodview over an extended period of time. Mrs Hazel Lawson who has been the assistant
bingo chair for many years was named to the list of recipients. Hazel has been attending our weekly
bingo events every Monday night for as many years as we can remember.
The second Membership was awarded to outgoing President Mark Ashcroft, he was extremely surprised by the honour. Mark received the award for his years as park President, for his tireless work as the Screening chair and more importantly
for his attention to the business of Woodview park. Not to be pushed off to his easy chair Mark remains
with the executive as the Sports Committee Chair.
A great evening enjoyed and appreciated by all. If invited next year please attend and accept the
thanks from the park for your efforts.
